Mad Cow Tests
Wagon-of-the-Moment:
January 3, 2004: Daytona Testing ’04
This particular cartoon was inspired by 1. the start of NASCAR testing season at Daytona, and 2. The “mad cow disease” outbreak that literally saw the beef industry in Canada completely shut down. Nothing was being exported, and the Canadian store shelves were bare. It was a rough time for cattle ranchers who had to destroy their herds. Testing for “mad cow” was going on and herds were being culled. So when a cow sees something about “testing”, it’s a scary thing. And yes… black and white cattle breeds (like Holsteins) are in the food chain too. Little boy calves don’t grow up into milk cows….
